Exploratory thematic call

Ancient societies took environmental resources into account when establishing their cities.
But this environment, exposed to risks and natural disasters, has often represented a threat to humans. They then had to invent ways to cope with these risks and recover from their effects. This question of adaptation to risks echoes the concerns of current societies facing an unprecedented environmental crisis. By bringing together various specialists in these issues for a study day, RARE aims to highlight the diversity of past risks, the different responses of societies and their capacity to adapt. It will also be about questioning modern risk management in light of the past and trying to draw lessons from it for the future. Keywords: geoarchaeology, adaptation, risk, paleoenvironment, archaeology, geomorphology, coastline, Aquitaine
