Giovanni Agresti is University Professor of Language Sciences at Bordeaux Montaigne University (Iker, UMR 5478). A sociolinguist, he is interested in Francophonies, linguistic policies and rights. President of the international POCLANDE Network (Populations, Cultures, Languages ​​and Development), he develops a reflection on the “linguistics of social development”, aimed at improving living conditions (in social, environmental, economic terms) within communities. linguistics, particularly minorities. Since October 2021, he has been the scientific coordinator of the Neo-Aquitaine Research Network on Francophonies (FrancophoNéA) funded by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region and bringing together the six university establishments in the region (Bordeaux, Bordeaux Montaigne, La Rochelle, Limoges, Pau and Pays de l’Adour, Poitiers).
