Created in 2016, the Operation of Metropolitan Interest (OIM) Bordeaux Inno Campus (BIC) covers 1,500 hectares and 6 municipalities (Bordeaux, Pessac, Talence, Gradignan, Mérignac and Canéjan). This operation brings together numerous stakeholders, particularly in health, innovation and research, to implement, in 2020, a Development Partnership Project (PPA) which foreshadows the evolution of this vast territory.

This territory concentrates 80% of the higher education and health facilities in the Bordeaux metropolis. This involves supporting their development by improving mobility, creating jobs and housing and ensuring the energy and climate transition.

So that users of the area can best take ownership of this urban project, a new system has been created: the BIC_BOX network.

The first BIC_BOX is located at the Maison des Sciences de l'Homme in Bordeaux: the BIC_BOX Montaigne. It was born in 2018 from a partnership between Bordeaux Montaigne University and Bordeaux Métropole. It aims both to ensure an interface between the scientific resources of the university and the urban project, but also to bring together the actors and actresses of this territory around common projects.

The aim is to create a network of meeting spaces hosted and run by BIC partners and certified by Bordeaux Métropole. It ensures mediation between the project, the driving forces of the territory and the different audiences (residents, students, businesses, users).
