MSH Bordeaux Training Offer: “Become familiar with media coverage and journalistic writing”

Intervention: Marie-Christine Lipani/MCF-HDR (Information and Communication Sciences IJBA/MICA)

Objective: Support researchers wishing to submit an article for The Conversation France

Training on media coverage for researchers and the basics of journalistic writing.

Description:

Mediatization, that is to say expressing oneself in the information media, makes it possible to promote scientific expertise on the one hand, but also the position of researchers on the other. It seems to have become a component of the careers of academics who are increasingly invited to take part in the public and political debate and to irrigate it.

However, media coverage can, among researchers, raise legitimate reservations, in particular when we do not have a good command of the codes of media expression and when we do not sufficiently understand the constraints of journalists and the media.

This three-hour training workshop offers an introduction to the fundamental principles of journalistic writing. This involves familiarizing yourself with the basics of constructing an article: title, essential message, angle, the 5 ws, structuring of the text, etc.

Many media outlets, such as the online media outlet The Conversation call on the expertise of scientists to address and analyze current issues.

The objective of this training workshop is to enable researchers to be able to propose an article meeting the criteria of journalistic writing.
